Bootleggers Guide to Story

Have you been struggling to get some liftoff with your stories? Perhaps you have an interesting idea but need the tools to turn it into a story--but HOW?

In this four-week class we’ll uncover some of the story logic in popular short film mediums, looking at movie trailers, music videos, and television commercials. By engaging with these hyper-visual, condensed mediums, we’ll learn how to jump right into the action and tell more compelling and exciting comics stories unladen by clunky backstories or stilted dialogue.

Through teacher-guided exercises, students will harness their visual storytelling skills to create short comics each week that are propelled forward by the powerful engine of story.
