Spend a week with us for

  • Permission

You have this week to be an artist. To forget the rest of the world and to study, play, research, train and learn.

  • Guidance

This is the week you will be guided by generous artists who have worked for years in the field.

  • Focus

And this is your week to FOCUS. No distractions. You and your work and your learning. And a community of like-minded artists and a library full of inspiration.

Week-long workshops

Due to ongoing travel restrictions and safety concerns related to Covid-19 we have decided not to set a date for our next week-long workshop. For now, read more about what our week-long workshops involve and reach out if you have any questions.

Come to SAW's Week-Long Workshops to get creative focus!

Jumpstart a new comics project, or get a wayward project back on track in this weeklong comics workshop.

For beginners and experienced students alike, this personalized, supportive learning environment is designed to move any project ahead by leaps and bounds. You’ll leave inspired and armed with useful techniques and insights to keep up your creative momentum. Brimming with creative energy, SAW is a home-away-from-home for cartoonists and artists—participants have travelled from as far as Japan to study at our Low Res weeks.

Our teachers tailor the Low Res Workshop’s curriculum to each group's needs.

Email us and tell us about your creative goals, artistic influences, and areas in which you’d like to improve and grow. Our workshops TEND to be:

Monday: introductions and warm-up exercises.
Tuesday: Story-specific exercises and studio time.
Wednesday: Visual-specific exercises and studio time.
Thursday: Guest artist visit and studio time.
Friday: Studio time.

If I’m coming for a week, where can I stay? How do I find housing?

Gainesville is a major university town and as such, very friendly to students and visitors. A quick web search should turn up number of local hotels, a hostel, and several bed-and-breakfasts within walking distance of SAW; there are also plenty great spots listed on AirBnB. There are options in all price ranges.

Or Couchsurfing.Org, here.  Or AirBandB, which has spare beds and bedrooms in various houses, check them out here: https://www.airbnb.com/s/Gainesville–FL

This FACEBOOK Group has young people in Gainesville looking for apartments, rooming situations, etc. https://www.facebook.com/groups/461257803968026/

This one is particularly queer-friendly: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1385939891726166/

If you’re having trouble finding housing, contact admin @ sequentialartistsworkshop.org and we may have some leads for you.
