Jumpstart a new comics project, or get a wayward project back on track in this weeklong comics workshop.
For beginners and experienced students alike, this personalized, supportive learning environment is designed to move any project ahead by leaps and bounds. You’ll leave inspired and armed with useful techniques and insights to keep up your creative momentum. Brimming with creative energy, SAW is a home-away-from-home for cartoonists and artists—participants have travelled from as far as Japan to study at our Low Res weeks.
Our teachers tailor the Low Res Workshop’s curriculum to each group's needs.
Email us and tell us about your creative goals, artistic influences, and areas in which you’d like to improve and grow. Our workshops TEND to be:
Monday: introductions and warm-up exercises.
Tuesday: Story-specific exercises and studio time.
Wednesday: Visual-specific exercises and studio time.
Thursday: Guest artist visit and studio time.
Friday: Studio time.
Sliding scale pricing options: $250, $250, $300, $400, $750
This course is priced on a sliding scale, based on need. Please pay what you can. If you can afford to pay a little more, you'll help us make this amazing experience accessible to all.

If I’m coming for a week, where can I stay? How do I find housing?
Gainesville is a major university town and as such, very friendly to students and visitors. A quick web search should turn up number of local hotels, a hostel, and several bed-and-breakfasts within walking distance of SAW; there are also plenty great spots listed on AirBnB. There are options in all price ranges.
