Diversity, social justice and SAW.
SAW was created believing everyone deserves the right to be heard, seen, and to let their creative light out. We first recognized the enormous costs of most private art schools. At the same time we are striving to comprehend the enormous social struggles some communities have had, and to be agents of good for those communities.
SAW was formed humbly, but from privilege that we acknowledge and we commit now to creating equality in our realm, the realm of comics and teaching comics.
As such, we are offering a small number of full and partial scholarships to our online certificate program.
As of July, for 2022-2023 we are able to offer partial scholarship funds to Black, Indigenous and Persons of Color, persons identifying as women, trans or non-binary, and to students of African American background.
Volunteering at SAW
Additionally, we do have some duties at SAW that can serve as volunteer/work trade. Since SAW is a non-profit and dedicated to affordable education, helping SAW with these small duties helps everyone. The Google form has a check box about volunteering.
