Join Graphic Memoirist and Award-Winning Novelist, Elizabeth A. Trembley for 4 weeks of small-group mentoring

You have stories and wisdom to share with the world. When you bear witness to what you have seen and known, you find new meaning in your life. And by creating graphic memoir, you can share your life with others and reveal how others can find meaning in theirs.

Join graphic memoirist and award-winning novelist, Beth Trembley for four weeks in a small mentoring group. Together you will focus on supporting each participant as they Get Stuff Done on their graphic memoir project.

Beth has been teaching writing for over thirty years, focusing on comics for the last five. She is the facilitator of SAW's ongoing Graphic Memoir Intensive.

Here's How it Will Work

Get Stuff Done on Your Graphic Memoir

Before the first meeting, you’ll have a thought-provoking form to fill out.

Then, in each meeting:

- Beth will give a presentation on some aspect of making progress with a project.

- All or part of the group will have time to introduce themselves, their project status, and their goals for to everyone else.

- Beth will provide mentoring and the group will also provide ideas and support!

- Prompt/Challenge for the Week. Beth will give you an optional challenge to help you focus and make progress during the upcoming week.

During the course, each person will have a “deep” dive into their project during one live call, and one extensive mentoring response during another week. All members will have use of the group’s exclusive space on SAW’s Mighty Network, including daily brief responses from Beth during the four weeks of the course.

- The group will be limited to no more than twelve members.

- You are welcome to start where you are in your process/work on your graphic memoir.

- If you have work you want to share with Beth and the group, it should be in-progress… but legible!

Instructor Bio:

Elizabeth Trembley, Ph.D, is the creator of the graphic memoir, Look Again (Street Noise Books, 2022). She is also a Lambda Literary Award-winning mystery novelist and writing teacher of more than three decades.

Beth views her role as helping students increase the power of their stories. She believes that people often psych themselves out wondering "who would ever want to read this?" about their work. She knows that if you really want to be read by others, you need to understand how to shape a story to showcase your authentic insights. Knowing the basics helps you innovate, and writing to be read by others will help you create a more diverse and just world.

Beth trained in literature and in innovation and creativity in places as diverse as the University of Chicago and Disney University. Through her classes, hundreds of students have drafted their first novels, explored digital storytelling, crafted personal essays, and reflected on their lives through memoir, both in prose and in comics.
